Grameen Foundation USA (GF-USA) is a non-commercial organization that undertakes micro-finance and technology initiatives for community development. It facilitates activities such as IT education in the Third World by providing access to financial services at low costs through a network of local developmental finance organizations such as micro-finance institutions. GF-USA operates a “Technology Center” to develop technology applications and projects that aid micro-finance delivery, offer income-generating opportunities to the underprivileged, and provide communities with access to information and communication technologies. In addition, GF-USA undertakes developmental programs such as the Grameen Bank Replication Program (GBRP), the Village Computing Project in India, the Chiapas Project, the Arab World Initiative, and the China Initiative. Grameen Foundation USA was founded in 1997 and is based in Washington, District of Columbia.
