Ceridian Corporation, an information services company, provides services to the human resource, transportation, and retail markets in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. It operates through two segments, Human Resource Solutions (HRS) and Comdata. The HRS segment offers human resource solutions that enable its customers to outsource a range of employment processes, such as payroll, tax filing, human resource information systems, employee self-service, time and labor management, benefits administration, employee assistance and work-life programs, recruitment and applicant screening, and post-employment health insurance portability compliance. The Comdata segment provides transaction processing, financial, and regulatory compliance services to trucking companies, truck stops, and long haul and local fleet drivers. This segment also offers stored value cards and employer pay cards to post or load payment of wages and other payments to customers principally in the retail, restaurant and hospitality, and service industries. In addition, it provides stored value card programs to retailers that are used as gift cards, gift certificates, credits for returned product, loyalty promotions, and retail promotions, as well as offers transaction processing services to merchants for various card-based products, such as traditional bank credit and debit cards. Ceridian Corporation was founded in 1957 and is headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. As of November 9, 2007, Ceridian Corporation was taken private.
