Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd., through its subsidiaries, provides commercial banking services to individuals and corporations in Japan and internationally. It operates in five segments: Retail Banking, Corporate Banking, Global Banking, Global Markets, and Other. The Retail Banking segment offers a range of banking products and services, including deposit and investment trust products, individual annuity insurance, securities intermediation services, loans, credit cards, and financial consulting services to individual customers in Japan, through its branch offices and other direct distribution channels. It also conducts trust agency operations. The Corporate Banking segment provides financing and fund management, advice on business expansion, settlement services, risk management, corporate management/financial strategies, and corporate welfare facilities, as well as capital markets, derivatives, securitization, syndicated loans, structured finance, and other services. The Global Banking segment provides overseas business support and global cash management services, as well as conducts banking operation in the United States. The Global Markets segment operates derivatives and foreign exchange markets in Tokyo, as well as provides asset liability management and strategic portfolio investment services in Tokyo, New York, London, Singapore, and Hong Kong. The Other segment offers trust and asset management business promotion for companies, which include defined contribution plans; and global securities services. As of June 30, 2007, the bank’s network included 666 branches, 121 sub-branches, 1,995 branch automated teller machines (ATMs), and 21,154 convenience store-based, non-exclusive ATMs in Japan.
