The company was founded in 1871 as Boston Red Stockings and changed its name to The Beaneaters in 1883, and to The Doves in 1907. Atlanta Braves, Inc. further changed its name to The Boston Braves in 1912 and to Bees in 1936, and back to The Boston Braves in 1941. It again changed its name to The Milwaukee Braves in 1953 and finally to Atlanta Braves, Inc. in 1966. The company is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia.
