Klearfold manufactures display cardboard packaging. The company was a leading global supplier of high-value specialty packaging and printing solutions for a wide variety of consumer product markets including entertainment, cosmetics and health and beauty aids. In March 1998 the company merged with AGI of Melrose Park, Ill., to form a new holding company called Impac Group. Impac Group will was based in Melrose Park. IMPAC provided specialty packaging and printing solutions, using a broad range of paper, paperboard, transparent rigid plastic, and litho-laminated fluted board. The Company grew both organically and through acquisitions, resulting in five-year compound growth rates in sales and EBITDA of 22% and 34%, respectively. In 1999, IMPAC generated pro forma EBITDA of $60.2 million on sales of $332 million. IMPAC now has facilities in Jacksonville, Ill.; Grover, N.C.; Louisa, Va.; Norwich, Conn.; and Franklin Park, Ill. In July 2000, Westvaco Corporation acquired IMPAC Group, Inc. Westvaco Corporation is a major producer of paper, packaging and specialty chemicals.
