Ocean Champions is the only political voice for the oceans. We take a non-partisan approach in working with the U.S. Congress to ensure ocean health through electoral and legislative action.

Our electoral success is strong and growing:

- 2004: endorsed and supported 14 candidates for the House and the Senate, and 11 won
- 2006: endorsed and supported 20 and 16 won; we were also instrumental in defeating ocean enemy #1, Richard Pombo
- 2008 endorsed and supported 34 candidates, and 28 won

Though we're a young organization, our legislative record is beginning to grow:

- Played a major role in re-authorizing Magnuson-Stevens
- Our Champions Helped defeat farm bill amendment that would have led to harmful new fishing subsidies
- Key Champions shot down offshore drilling in ‘06 and ’07
- Playing leadership role in the push for new standards for protecting our oceans, including Oceans 21
