Have you hear about LinkedIn profiles that were removed because they displayed more than their real names

According to this article http://www.anneraaymakers.nl/2011/02/18/top-linkedin-tip-let-op-je-profiel-kan-verwijderd-worden/ (Dutch - you can use Google translate) LinkedIn is removing user profiles because they are stating more than their real name. So there is more info than just their first name and last name.

The author is pointing to the LinkedIn User Agreement http://www.linkedin.com/static?key=user_agreement&trk=hb_ft_userag#pri-10 . I can not find any reference on using just your first name and last name. The only thing I found is "Create a user profile for anyone other than a natural person;". By adding +2500 or phone number or email address to your name, a method used by many top linkers used, doesn't make my profile less natural, or does it?

You can click the image in the article to read an actual e-mail from LinkedIn talking about a removed profile.

Looking for more proof on this issue.

Yes, I've heard that some profiles have been asked to change and if they don't the profile would be closed.

It's about time LI started to enforce it. It is very difficult to search for someone when they add all the other stuff to their name.

Why can they not just add it into their Summary?

Erno, as Anne's answer points out, adding anything other than your actual name (e.g., e-mail address, etc) is a violation of the Terms of Service.

Besides, don't you find that displaying your e-mail address on such a high-profile site yields a tremendous amount of spam?

When you enter your details you are clearly asked for "first name" and "last name". Unless your last name really is "Smith +2500 Tel:001 1234 567890" then you are entering false information so are not using the site honestly and are subject to remobval. You will see that the terms of service does include the right to terminate if you enter false information.
