In April, I was interviewed on Cameron Reilly’s ‘G’Day World’ show on Podcast Network, on the subject of ‘Using LinkedIn as a Business Tool’.
During the interview, Cameron (a real LinkedIn skeptic), set me a challenge: Use the LinkedIn Network to find the most impressive Celebrity Guest I could find to appear on his show.
This was a real test of the quality & depth of the LinkedIn network, as well as the willingness of the LinkedIn community to help with introductions.
I'm pleased to report that none other than Vint Cerf, (co-inventor of the Internet & Chief Internet Evangelist at Google) appeared as a guest on Thursday 31st May, as a result.
A very special thanks to my LinkedIn connections, Christian Mayaud and Cynthia de Lorenzi, who helped make this happen.
As a result, I now have my own weekly Podcast show, on Business Networking & Web 2.0, called ‘Connnections’, starting in a couple of weeks.
Without LinkedIn, none of this would have happened.

I had a gentleman, looking at increasing certification versus completing his college degree in the financial industry. He saw a higher income at his level for certified individuals without degrees and wanted to know why the degree was important.
We talked ... specifically, looking at the management incomes and degrees and determined that he would do better looking at the broader picture by getting the degree rather than focusing on the specific skills for the job that would limit growth.
It was awesome being able to help someone grow like this.
Well it didn't help me but I had received an email in LinkedIn from someone that was in my network in the Denver area and he was looking for a Recruiter. I had a friend that lived in the Denver area so I reached out to her and ultimately forwarded the requester her contact information and resume. The last thing that I heard is that she was going thru her 2nd interview. I think that it is great to be able to help people out and if you know somoene in another state it can still be a great help to others. It has been a great way to get potential opportunities out to a great number of people. How about you, have you had any successes?

Hi Suzy
I'd like to think there will be many to come since I am a newbie to LinkedIn (90 day anniversary just last week :)
To date - it was an opportunity to be coached by a up and coming career/life coach who was in my network looking for some practice. It was so enlightening and I am certain that our session will help me in the days to come.
My network on LinkedIn brought me this chance to be introspective and get some objective feedback about myself. You can't beat that!

I located a VP of ES&H candidate through Linked In that will more than likely receive an offer to head up the ES&H function for a 3,500-person $600-million company. Considering the research done at the site, the role is critical for the future success of the organization. Linked In put me in touch with the right person, who shared this person's name (provided referral). I wouldn't have located this candidate without LI's help.
I got my current job through LinkedIn. So I consider it an indispensible resource.

So far so good! A connection called me and advised that I have about 300 bucks coming to me from the state's Dept of Commerce unclaimed funds.
In final negotiations with a large financial services company, they *required* we have documentation of an "integration" between our technology and a specific third party.
When all other means proved fruitless, I found their CTO on LinkedIn and he was kind enough to speak me through what they did and how we could interoperate.
The $500k+ deal was consummated within days.

I'm fairly new to Linked In but so far I have enjoyed finding people I have heard from in a while and them finding me on LinkedIn. It's neat to discover old colleagues and friends and get back in touch.
I have tried asking a Question and got several good answers but when I replied to them telling them more about me and my business, I have yet to see a response.
I also tried send InMail to an Open InMail receiver and never heard back so I withdrew the InMail.
I'm hoping I will meet more people of like mind who I can help and who can help me.

I found 2 Managers for our team through LinkedIn. I got to see some common contacts between them and me thereby helping me verify their credentials within hours.
One of them joined last year and has turned out to be superb performer. The second one is scheduled to join next week.

Hi Suzy,
I got a new client from Linkedin, and another one that I had to turn down. I also got a job offer a few months ago but didn't take it. I have also met some wonderful people from this site and that in itself is a reward.

It got me my current job.

Suzy,
I needed to write a paper on a VC Fund, posted the question and had people guide me step by step in writing the paper. Got some great connections via the process also (just had a post on this phenomenon over at MPLF). It was the same with other Questions also.
I was also asked by a Contact to forward a job query to another contact. Was happy to do.

I built a Linkedin Group for Veterans and Marines...it is 349 members strong now...used to assist and make networking connections....
I've done a ton of interviews over the last 6 months in the Denver market. I've now made it a practice to check out every candidate through LinkedIn. Some of my connections knew the candidates we wanted to hire. Immediately I had unsolicited references that made our hiring decisions easier.
