Location: India
Scenario: Meeting a customer in an unfamiliar location
Transport: Delhi Metro
Phones: NFC enabled devices with GPS
Description:
1) Key in address details on phone and click search
2) Found address and selects transportation method, select Delhi Metro
3) Calculates proximity to nearest station from current location and produces directions how to reach there
4) Following instructions, reaches beginning train station
5) Takes phone and makes quick purchase of newspaper to read from newsvendor or vending box secured and accessible via contactless reader, using NFC credit card application on phone
6) Uses NFC phone to tap into station turnstile reader, using Delhi Metro card application in phone
7) Reaches destination station, taps out with phone
8) Passes by Starbucks smart poster on wall, quick tap of NFC phone, downloads mobile coupon
9) Stops by Starbucks for purchase and uses mobile coupon for instant redemption of breakfast coffee at discount
10) Checks phone location again, application recognises current location and with destination saved, maps out nearest path to reach customer meeting location
11) Shakes hand with customer, taps customer NFC phone to exchange business card details, into meeting proper
This is what i forsee will happen in the future, with convenience enabled on your mobile phone and the same infrastructure that can happen in major cities on every part of the world where there is contactless infrastructure.
Apart from Japan and Korea, this will happen in potentially Taiwan and Malaysia due to the current contactless infrastructure available.
In fact, apart from the location based service, the rest is available now, contact me if you have any potential followups.

LBS apps: Since low cost mobiles are used by pan shop owners and it will be spreading more...., I suggest a cool beetle cutter (or a stapler) be designed into a thin mobile phone. Dont mind if a swiss knife spokes out from the middle of the phone. He may want to open the caps of some cold drinks.
NFC can be used to offer m-Bus tickets, no paper and environment saves.
the equivalent amount will be deducted at the prepaid interface in the back end.
... I have many can share later..

Why do we still have cables from the laptop to the printer? I'd like to hit print sitting on an airplane for two hours on the runway, and have my assistant review it in the office. Or, I'd like to print a spreadsheet from my cell phone during the morning commuted so that I can grab it on the way to the coffee pot. If its already available, please point me in the right direction.

In 2001 I was recommending to use mobile phone infred interface as universal remote control as people are loosing their remotes in home so at least you can call to your remote to find out where it rings.
I do not know does newest models have infrared interface anymore and it will be more complex to use bluetooth as remote control interface.

Carriers have been the biggest bottle neck to innovation in the mobile apps front.
Nokia and Google are possibly opening up their cell-ID databases to 3rd parties. This is good news for small LBS developers crying out for reasonably priced access to LBS services as they can bypass the carriers altogether.
Location plays a very important role in local search on mobiles and mobile social networking, I've covered these two in detail on my blog (Links Below)
