Messages that seem to be from LinkedIn are being faked, and may contain links for you to click on that will result in identity theft.
Beware of unsolicited messages because although they look authentic they may be fake. I have received these myself.

The condition you are describing isnt spamming but rather a communication snafu between your email server and LinkedIn. I've experienced this for years with LI where the email header contains a members name but the 'To' person us different (and accurate). This has never created a problem for me is receiving or responding to messages. BTW for me the name is usually one person although it has changed periodically and then will change back.
