Are there any Web Savvy Dentist out there?

Looking for Web Savvy Dentist to give recognition for their efforts on our blog DentistSOS.com
So far the response has been very disappointing. So I ask again are there any Web Savvy Dentist out there. If so please nominate them on our blog http://bitly.com/RdVwv but if you have an answer to why there are not out there I would really appreciate some answers.

As someone who provides web design and maintenance for a dozen or so dentists, I would say that for my clients and others that I know, it isn't that they aren't web savvy. In fact, many of them are keenly aware of making sure their website has good search engine positioning and sticky content for lead generation.

I think though that most of them are more focused on their practice itself--their patients, their staff, their skills--and rely on their technology partners (you, me, other providers) to drive their website.

Also, because dentistry is so localized to a specific geography, being recognized for their website in a non-geo-optimized way is probably lower on their list of to-dos.

By coincidence, yesterday I saw this question, and today I happened to stumble over a mention of a dentist who is developing his own open source software [1] openMolar and (of course) uses the web (his blog) [2] to promote that. (Of course his practice has a website, too [3].)

In my opinion, that would qualify him as "web savvy".

Lawrence, Dr. Helaine Smith just featured a bunch of tooth savvy dentists on her blog. She ran a "I Love My Dentist" campaign and featured a story from a patient every day for three weeks.

(Full disclosure: she is my client.)

Much like Adam, I've done a lot of work with dentists in particular and I can tell you that they aren't (i'm sure there's a diamond in the rough somewhere but...) web savvy at all. Very non-web-savvy bunch.

What a dumb idea.

Every dentist pretty much has the same message: Brush often, use floss and rinse, See me regularly for a check up.

Why blog? People will ignore the blog more readily than a consultation they paid for. I expect that dentists have better things to do than yet another way for people to not follow some of the most basic medical advice there is.

Not every problem is solved with web technology. Not everything needs to be blogged about. There is still a place for ahem ... pardon the pun: "Word of Mouth".

Dr Uday, has cases after cases online and he publishes dental papers too. I believe he has some patents to his credit too.
