If you were to design a business/lifestyle management application, what are some features and capabilities you would love to have included?

One of our clients is in the process of building an application designed specifically for entrepreneurs/small business owners with our programmer. There are several other opinions that would be great to hear:

1. Would you rather and online based "membership" type application or a device based application with updates?
2. Desktop, Mobile or Multi-platform Application?

Select individuals whom participate in this and follow-up quesitons will have an opportunity to beta-test, provide input and recieve a complimentary copy of the final product.

Dear Daniel,

I think there are two key trends to consider:
- touch screens are changing all devices and possibilities
- decision making is more and more difficult: people are receiving a lot of offers and products every day and they do not even have the time to decide about what to take, so they definitely need help in that. This is why word-of-mouth marketing or self-managed networks are spreading so fast, it does not require control and effort to choose the best of bests...

So recommending any product I would consider these and build something around it: probably multi-platform application and something which is more like a directory and not a content-provider service. In this way you can also skip competition going on between content-providers (most applications) and tackle the problem on a different level. Also as time is passing by "richer are becoming richer", so as distributed networks are working: if you already have a lot of users, you will grow faster than anyone else starting similar services after you.

Hope this helps and was clear enough!
Luca

As far as development goes, I would recommend a multi-platform application that is hosted online. Allow multi-device access via web, app downloads, and software that all pulls from a central database. My company hosts many cross platform software development companies and they are very successful in scaling from free apps to "pro" versions that increase data storage or features.

I like managers like Evernote. And if something like that is geared towards entrepreneurs, I think it would be a great management system for projects and ideas. So it would have to be multi-platform as well.
