Does WCM of Open Source products are expanding to the enterprise market?
Recently we've seen dozens of WCM " Web Content Management" come up in WW market competing the leaders of web content management from IBM, Oracle, Vignette and Microsoft till it reached more than 1000 CMS solutions on the market and even some costing millions to purchase and implement.
Why enterprise organization not of picking up those open source products in the market though we know there are dozens of open source (free license) solutions are now available with a few leading solutions which becoming competitive products to the big names, off-the-shelf vendors.

Open Source WCM is gaining more and more market share for some reasons :
- These WCM solutions (not all but the main like Joomla, Alfresco, Drupal, Typo, Zope/Plone, ...) are managed by the community like any other classical commercial software : professional grade project management, testers, documentation writers, quality testers, precise roadmaps, ...
- The Open Source community behind the WCM (like any other Open Source project) is huge, of great quality and very open (ask any ISV to add a feature just for you !)
- The support from the community is of an acceptable level. And if you prefer, there are a lot of commercial companies, system integrators that can provide professional support. Almost all of the most popular Open Source WCM solutions have a dedicated commercial company behind them.
- By choosing Open Source solutions, a company decide not to spend money with licenses but to invest into the creation of solution that answer perfectly their needs.

That has not been our experience at any size corporation. As long as you can present a supported open source solution we displace big name solutions as a matter of course.

There are various. The one that I believe is more enterprise ready is Alfresco.
It has many functionalities, plugins, addons and customization solutions for many environments.
Hope this helps.

I don't think so mate for few reasons:
- OS products usually lack a clear road-map,
- OS products do not have industry focus and specializations compared to of-the-shelf-vendors who have dedicated R&D for products innovations,
- The lack of support which is very critical, this support and maintenance is a key factor in each and every organization decision to buy a particular product,
- The implementation and the revenue for the SI who do not push for OS products,
