It usually involves knowing what data SAP needs to have sent to it at various points (or what key is used to make routing decisions etc), then grabbing a barcode font that works with the scanners you have on hand and making a printout.
Seriously.
Perhaps you had a more specific question in mind, such as how to enable factory automation using bar codes, or what industrial grade printers work most reliably?

As Paul notes your question is a bit vague. SAP has many Bar Code solutions and some are better than others in different scenarios.
Suggest you also look at SDN and post specific questions there.(link below)

We (GlobalLink Network, LLC) offer barcode tracking software that can be integrated with a variety of ERP systems like SAP, MAPICS, Peachtree, Quickbooks, and a number of other systems. The reason companies choose to use our approach is: simple solution, desire global tracking of their supply chain outside their firewall at a low cost, do not want to implement EDI with supply chain, want to implement system quickly (90 days or less, wish to pilot barcode prior to a full SAP implementation, etc. As others have indicated, it depends on what you wish to accomplish. .
