But it is just as easy to type the information directly into your html code.
You definitely don't need professional help just to enter data into your meta tags, unless you are unsure of exactly what you should be entering.
Title: This is the most important, don't use titles like
"Home Page : Welcome"
Use the keywords that are on the page, describe what the page contains.
Make sure you have a unique title for every page on your site.
Description: This is only important in that it is a good place to put a call to action so when people see your listing in the search results they might be more inclined to click.
Something like: "This is what we have to make your life easier" instead of a bunch of keywords.
Keyword meta: completely useless, don't bother
The rest: you can enter something into Author, Generator, etc but they don't really make a difference.

meta tags are also working in conjunction with other variable parts of your web site as well as what you may have it linked to. The best tags are those that people are going to think about when they are interested in something...say guitars....Gibson guitars or guitar strings ...or acoustic instruments...etc Your tags would best describe what you do in 3 seconds or less....? What someone else would think about in regards to a product or subject matter and type in to the web. One way to see if it is effective is monitering your hits on any given search engine
