I have been using and trying out various domain parking services for more than a year. One of the services I used went bust and I never got my money.
Lesson #1 - Company Went Bust
Use an established domain parking service with a low payment threshold so that you can get your money ASAP.
Lesson #2 - SEO-Friendly URL
Many of my parked domains are not new but used with PageRank. So it is important that the parking service providing SEO-friendly URL.
In fact, the URL and linking structure is the top criteria for selecting my domain parking services.
Lesson #3 - Click Fraud
I used to subscribe to a domain parking service which costed me about US$20 a year. However, my account was de-activated because of suspected click fraud.
Click fraud does happen and you want to partner with a domain parking service that have experience in dealing with cheats impartially and not just de-activate your account without giving you proper recourse.
Lesson #4 - Use Free Domain Parking Services
Nowadays, there are many domain parking services that want your business without charging you a subscription fee for domain parking.
And I think domain parking service should be free.
If the service provider cannot make money with your domains and have to make you pay subscription then they are probably not confident that they can help you make money with your domains.

I am unsure of what you mean by the question..
Generating Revenue from domain parking would be minimal. These services are useful if you have purchased a domain and either no longer have a need for it (and wish to do something with it for the remainder of the term) or if you are still in development.
One of the disadvantages is if you have a domain where a user is looking for a particular product or service, once they see that your domain does not have what they are looknig for, they will most likely not return.
I was once intreagued by red.com; before launching an official site, they had a large red "R" - and the site said "Red - The Color of Life".
This actually got me to return to the site, wondering when something was going to happen to it. If I had seen advertisements, or the auto generated page, I would surely have not returned.
As said; the major benifit would be if you had domains you wish to use the remainder of your term; or purchased with a forgotten venture, or something to that degree, these sites would be great to use.
On the note of starting one up...
The european market is extremely large - however with a heavy language diversity you would have to do some extensive script work to try to detect the language being used by the browser, as well as translating content, where applicable.
Overall - they are a good idea, its a great way to use a domain that you don't wish to use - or wish to use in the same manner that the parking companies will be using them (advertisements & generic pages).
If you are a user and wish to use this domain for a legit / commercial purpose you could slander your own name without realizing it.
If you wish to run one - there is stern competition out there and you would have to have 1000's of domains pointing to you before there would be enough overall revenue to make up for the hosting costs.
I hope this was of some help..
as a hosting provider we have always used opensrs.net for registration and parking the pages, and that has been a decent revenue stream.
There has not been any risk for us, just income
We have done this for any domains clients registered with us, also with .nl and .eu and .be and it has been automatic and easy
At the same time if you really want to generate income of parked pages you wil have to get actively involved
