Which Blog provider do you recommend for business related blogging?

I would like to begin blogging on a business related topic. Is there a preferred blog provider over others? Need to generate interest and better yet cash flow. I have looked at, LiveJournal, Typepad, Wordpress and Blogger, of these I like Blogger but I am open to recommendations.

As a business coach, I work with many businesses about their online presence.

There are two options I would narrow your decision down to: WordPress and TypePad. WordPress is free. TypePad costs. Both applications can port into your LinkedIn profile. (A very nice feature).

Now, which of these two options works best? If you just want a blog, WordPress works fine. But if you want a domain presence where you can tap into things like domain mapping and custom CSS – not to mention support when you need it, TypePad is the way to go.

Whichever you choose, don’t want to stop there.

Push your blog through FEEDBURNER. Feedburner is free. It’s loaded with tools to track, customize, flavor and distribute the RSS feed associated with your blog.

But don’t stop there.

In Feedburner you will see an option for email subscriptions. Use FEEDBLITZ. Feedblitz is also free. It allows you to turn your blog essentially into an email newsletter.

These two services (both owned by Google) will optimize your RSS feed and help you reach more people than just putting up a blog.

To see this in action, check out this blog. http://www.clinicalsupervision.biz/. This is a TypePad blog with custom CSS and domain mapping. Then go to http://feeds.feedburner.com/typepad/clinicalsupervision?format=html to check out the result of the blog pushed through Feedburner. Here is what this looks like through Feedblitz: http://www.feedblitz.com/f/f.fbz?Preview=447151. And here is the Feedblitz subscription form for this blog: http://www.feedblitz.com/f/?Sub=447151.

This website, http://clinicalsupervision.biz, is now supercharged.

BTW – when you are ready to take your game to the next level, tap into HIPCAST for podcasting and video blogging ($9.95/ month).

You can see Hipcast in action with the Toast of the Valley podcast (also pushed through Feedburner, Feedblitz, and iTunes – after Feedburner). Here are the links as a demonstration (it’s a WordPress site, BTW).

(The question appears twice, likely a LI glitch,, so I will answer twice)

Blogger is by far the simplest, most-intuitive to use, and frankly the best for a non-tech person who does not have time to learn a platform such as Wordpress.

Others will differ. ;-)

I cuncur with Frank Feather's answer. Blogger will get you up and running very quickly. It's easy to use and very customisable with respect to its design. I have 2 blogs created using blogger.

On the other hand, Wordpress has so much additional functionality that can be added that I'm intending to put together a blog based on Wordpress so that I can learn how to use it.

There is also a belief amongs some SEO experts (unproven) that incorporating a Blogger blog into your own website (rather than having it hosted by Blogger) will improve your Google visibility.

I strongly recommend WordPress.

You are free to use your own hosting. You can easily create a custom theme to get the exact design you want or you can easily install one of the hundreds of free pre-made themes available in minutes.

You can expand the functionality of WordPress to do almost anything using the thousands of free plugin available.

This can all be done without touching any code in most cases.

OR you can goto wordpress.com and have them host a free basic blog for you for free.

Not to mention the fact that WordPress is open source with hundreds if not thousands of very friendly, helpful developers willing to help you with you project on the WordPress forums.

So yeah, I recommend WordPress =)

I use and recommend wordpress but it does take more time to learn to set it up and get it working to get the search engines to find it. The free hosts don't let you optimize things much as far as I know.

I have written some info on wordpress and have more to add so let me know if you have any questions.
