I haven't done a course Scott and have been using Wordpress for nearly 3 years. The forum at wordpress.org is really useful if you want to know how to do something though - I've been there a number of times. I also frequent a lot of blogs by other wordpress users and sometimes email them questions to find out how to do things. But, for the most part, I've found just exploring and experimenting is a great way to learn!

Working with WordPress for years now and learned it from working with it and random readings. I've not seen courses on Wordpress itself, the closest to it you would get are WordCamps held all around the world.
I'd suggest though:
* reading the WordPress.org forums
* reading the WordPress.org codex (the core documentation for WordPress)
* reading articles and blog posts written by people who developed WordPress, websites on top of it or plugins for it.
Some recommendations/requirements:
* PHP knowledge is a must to check out code or understand what functions and how WordPress' logic works.
* MySQL is a big bonus when you want to take a look under the hood and/or add extra functionality
* (X)HTML and CSS will do wonders if you want to work on the outside (themes, and presentation in general)
You did give me, though, a great idea for a talk in the next FLOSS conference I attend.

The web resource listed below is not a class, but it is a strong resource for WordPress blogs nonetheless: Weblog Tools Collection. The site is frequently updated and covers the gamut of WordPress topics.

I've been using Wordpress for about 6 months. I haven't found an online course on it - but I also didn't really look.
As others have said, it's not that difficult and the forums help a lot. I have also found that wordpress staff are pretty quick to answer if you have a question that genuinely is not covered by the standard documentation/forums. (I've had good responses from them on abuse issues as well, which was one major reason to start using them)
I have been using WordPress for last couple of months. I picked most of it through random reading. No tutorial was needed. You need to decide plugins and theme.
The following link provides list of plugins I use:

A great place to start is with the dozens of free video tutorials that are available on the Internet.I've included a link below.
If you're looking for more advanced info - you'll probably have to work a little harder, because the Wordpress community is moving so fast that documentation is lagging behind the software and use.
