Here is the link to census info. http://www.census.gov/econ/smallbus.html the info is from 2007 and 2008 and the small businesses are divided in companies without employees and companies with employees, there is not an exact category of 5 to 50, but you can add all the previous blocks up to the category of 20 to 99 to give you an idea.
Not counting all the sb's working underground without any business license or secretary of state registration.
