Does anyone know where I can donate a historical book?

I have a copy of "The Debates And Proceedings in the Congress Of The United States" published in 1849 and "Comprising The Period From December 5, 1796, To March 3, 1797". I have had this book for several years and its condition is getting worse. I would like to donate it but the few channels that I have check, no one seemed to care.

Otherwise I am going to take it apart and scan it page by page but that would destroy the original in it's entirety.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried approaching a university library? That's the logical place for a book of significant historical value.

A public library? A local law school library (Drake)? Library of Congress in Washington, DC? A local historical society? Legislative library at the Iowa General Assembly?

What do you mean when you say those you have checked with do not seem to care?

Good luck,

John

I suggest calling your local college/univeristy library or history department. They may know...
If they don't, try the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.
