Would you sponsor my Ride for the Roses and help the Lance Armstrong Foundation in the fight against cancer?
To recognize my fifth anniversary as a testicular cancer survivor, I set out to complete a series of five endurance cycling rides this year. The last of these is the 90-mile Ride for the Roses in Austin, Texas, on October 26, supporting the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF). Please help today to fund a critical cause.
"Survivorship. It's the primary focus of the Lance Armstrong Foundation. We strive to give every cancer survivor the tools, the resources, and most of all, the inspiration to battle cancer, and to do it on their terms. As long as the Foundation is here, no one needs to wage the fight alone."
Their latest annual report arrived last Monday, and I was proud to read about all that the LAF has accomplished in its ten years, and also reminded how much remains to be done on behalf of nearly 12 million Americans living with cancer. Then on Tuesday came the exciting news that Lance Armstrong -- cancer survivor, founder and chairman of the LAF, and seven-time winner of the Tour de France -- is "un-retiring!"
"I am happy to announce that after talking with my children, my family and my closest friends," Lance says, "I have decided to return to professional cycling in order to raise awareness of the global cancer burden. This year alone, nearly eight million people will die of cancer worldwide. Millions more will suffer in isolation, victims not only of the disease but of social stigma. It's time to address cancer on a global level."
Whether you can give $5, $50, $500, or any amount in between, please consider sponsoring my grand finale ride of the season to help in the fight against cancer.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
