What options are there to get website traffic & popularity data like Alexa provides, but with a narrower geographic scope?

Alexa appears to only offer information that is parsed out by country, but I am trying to find what reliable options exist for getting traffic and popularity data on a state-by-state, and perhaps even smaller, basis. It needs to be more reliable then Google Analytics map overlay which simply appears to be tracing IP addresses to routing stations which is a fairly imprecise method of culling geographic data. What companies provide a reliable service like this, and what are the costs?

Google recently released a tool called Google Insights For Search. This may help you.

Quantcast offers fairly detailed traffic, demographic, and geographic data for websites. It should be noted that there is some debate regarding the accuracy of Quantcast's data. That being said, it is still used broadly as a relatively reputable source. Also, if you create a free account, you can access their 'Media Planner' which allows you to filter websites by DMA.

In addition to Google Insights, Google Trends for Websites may also help.
