Mostafa,

the most visible way to look for accredited investors is through the business angels networks of business angels clubs in your region.

In Europe, EBAN (www.eban.org) is the professional organisation rerpresenting most of the european BAN's.
Worldwide, you could concult www.angelsoft.net, an IT platform which is used by a lot of BAN's.

And next to that ... web 2.0 is the ideal way to start searching ...

Greetings from Belgium,

Koen

Mostafa,
We have access to opt-in email lists where we can provide the selection criteria of income of $200K+ and net worth of $1MM+. The opt-in email addresses are overlaid with Equifax demographic information, allowing us to select accordingly.
Get in touch with me direct if you'd like more information.

Mostafa,

Don't fall for database lists and promo pieces touted by the service providers. Even if you shell out the USD +1k/per mth for a www.thomsonone.com or www.bloomberg.com terminal, this gets you the lists of contacts and their portfolio holdings only.

"So what? Who are YOU?" the Buy-sides receptionist will yell into the phone when your Issuer's Junior Staff cold-calls them.

What Private Placement Partners, Syndication Front-offices, and CO-Investors don't tell you is that these databases are only used to plug the leak in the +20%p.a. attrition. Personal HISTORY is what counts. (When I ran the institutional investor lists of a SGX ticker, PRE-CRASH attrition was +20%. Q4CY2008 means much more).

So what to do then?
It comes down to personal history, track record, and paying for performance. See www.thefunded.com as to how often issuers get snookered.

So what to do if the databases are only of use to intermediaries that are always in the market?
1. Don't pay anything to "connection consultants". Period.
2. Look for a HEAVY weighting to performance;
a) tiny tiny retainer, only authorized to build up your body of evidence!
Like;
(i) Info Memorandum, drafting > registration
(ii) Due Diligence audits, > Enviro, Sustainability, Carbon, Market, etc
(iii) commissioned sell-side reports, NOT bulge-brackets but industry experts
(iv) customer surveys
Eg USD <10k p.m.x 3mths
b) Aggressive Signing Bonuses & break fees when they bring the money to your door,
c) 2x digit Commissions with liquidity, forget private securities as PIK,
d) Best Acid Test;
(i) catalog your dream list of investors,
(ii) ask them from whom they like deal-flow from, and
(iii) the Service Providers/Capital Partners THEY'VE USED... and
(iv) work with them. Everyone else is a waste of your time.

If they're raising USD +10MM, 30k in documentation is donkey spit.
No road show, no conference calls, management meet&greets, etc legwork that getsthingsdone.(All the paperwork is only to secure that FIRST lead investor anyway... the rest of the heard will follow once the FIRST Anchor Investor endorses the offering to the rest of the community. See earlier paragraph on why the databases are of limited value. You think any well-regarded Lead Investor took a cold-call/spam email and said, "oh my god, where have you been, I've been waiting for your unsolicited phone call all day!")?

Caveat Emptor #1,
Its a small investor world,
word spreads,
If your issuer has not done a thorough documentation preparation,
they won't get a 2nd chance as buy-sides are just looking for excuses to put your application on rejection heap.

Caveat Emptor #2,
Buy-sides just LOVE undocumented value :)
A.k.a. "miss-priced", "market inefficiency", or "skinning the issuer".
Get your Documentation together to get the Dollars.

You'll need a good Sail even if the wind is at your back,
Andrew

Good day Mostafa,

While not necessarily all accredited investors, Angelsoft.net, SD Forum and/or VLAB are all possible (networking) resources worth considering.

Hi Mostafa

I am not sure emailing investors is the right way to find an investor. Calling them is usually more effective, then sending them more info on email.

Given that you are based in United Arab Emirates, the first place to look should be in your own country or region. Most investors invest the majority of their funds in companies that are based in the same country or region as themselves. There are several reason for this, but the 2 main reasons is their network and ability to get good references on you and your team is higher in their own area and they avoid long travel to board meetings.

I don't know the investment climate in United Arab Emirates, but here in Silicon Valley it is actually fairly easy to get a meeting with potential investors if you have a good elevator pitch and a good executive summery. At the meeting it comes down to you ability to sell your venture which is usually done here with a strong investor deck in PowerPoint.
