Reading on paper:

1. I don't get interrupted (no incoming e-mail, instant messages, flashing ads, other open windows etc.)
2. Is faster (25% faster than on monitor, according to research) and reading comprehension increases.
3. Is more restful for the eyes

There are only two reason anyone would want to read the local paper (San Francisco Chronicle) and thats the local news and the obituaries. Having grown up in San Francisco both are important, but other then that it is a very poor source of news at best.

All great answers!

I am still old school when it comes to stuff like that even though I am constantly reading online.

One thing not mentioned but I still love the smell of a newspaper and having the tips of my fingers turned grey/black after reading a paper.

1. the moment. I like to read my paper in the morning while eating my breakfast. I don't want to start up a computer.
2. the articles. I use the internet to read short newsitems. I print the long ones to read at another moment. The newspaper doesn't have this problem.
3. the place. You can read a paper everywhere. In the garden, while waiting in the car, etc. It's far more flexibel then online.

2. There is still the belief that what is in print is factual, whereas the web's credibility is still lacking in comparison, in my opinion.
3. Too many other distractions online, including within "articles".

1. The smell of the newspaper (it's also the reason I still read books rather than simply e-books)
2. As a journalist I never tire of seeing my printed articles in a portfolio. it seems to give weight to all the hard work in creating them. Having them online just seems s transient.
3. The crossword puzzles using a pen. Nothing like it!
