Are there definite benefits upgrading from a free personal to paid business LinkedIn account?
I've started thinking about upgrading my account from a free personal account to a paid business account. The business accounts offer quite a bit more than the personal account. My question to myself is whether I am using LinkedIn enough to justify the $19.95 per month (or even the $199.50 per year). What I would really like to see is a post or discussion about the value of a business account and what difference it makes to a user. Do I need to be a power user to benefit from a business account? Is the correct question even whether I am using it enough to justify the upgrade? Should it be more about upgrading and reaping the rewards?

Dear Paul,
With the same question in mind I upgraded my account a year ago. benefits I see now is that other upgraded linkedin profiles can contact me direct without a introduction, but direct via InMail.
But you asked the question yourself. how often do you use and need Linkedin for business use?
I know form experience that it helps me and my business but then I am using it every day.

Morning Paul,
Upgrading is something I will be considering myself. As a new member I need to measure the benefits over the next month to see if it is worth my time and effort to be involved on a regular basis.
I look at it on a par with say buying an annual membership at a golf club. If you play a few rounds every week then the membership fee is well worth it - where as, if you only play once a month, it becomes an expensive hobby.
Marcus seems to be benefiting from Linkedin which I find reassuring as a new member.
Kind regards,
Steve.

I have only been on LinkedIn since about March of this year. I started with the free account but I upgraded last month paid account. The value to me with the paid account is the ability to narrow my searches to a smaller radius. With the free account I think all searches are done with a 50 mile radius and with a paid account you go down to 25. In a market like the Minneapolis/St. Paul most companies I target are less the 15 miles away the paid account allows me to find more prospects out the limited search of 500 by excluding those out of my area so to speak.

How much is your usage?
Are comfortable with Linkedin, as in know everything about Linkedin?
Obviously, you would be measured different if you use paid service, as you get free Inmail service.
