Does this film trailer work? (The film is coming out in a month in LA, NYC and Tel Aviv)

Does this film trailer work?

My film is getting a theatrical release in NYC, LA and Tel Aviv(Israeli) at the end of November.
It's my first film trailer, so I was wondering if this film trailer works? Does it make one want to see this film?

The trailer is still in low resolution:

Dan, it's a solid trailer. I feel like the best documentaries are driven not simply by a compelling story but by interesting characters and interview subjects. The trailer gives the sense that the film has both. And the music, editing, titles all look great. Good luck!

It makes me want to see the film, and I am not generally interested in theater documentaries. The central character is shown to be a character, and the drama is well presented. The hook I got from it was: Yiddish and Yiddish theater survived the onslaught of Naziism and Stalinism, but is now in danger of being undone by consumerism and apathy. I find that to be an interesting hook. Good luck with the film, and I hope I get a chance to see it some time.

I enjoyed the trailer and am interested in seeing the film because of it. Considering the subject matter is something I'm completely unaware of, I'd say that it's a pretty good trailer.

Ditto, trailers work, for w/o them, you have to guess what it's about based off the title, bad title, bad guess ;-)

Definitely a good trailer. I can't add anything that hasn't been said already. But I want to see the film. Why don't more movies open in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada? :)

Don, your trailer is superb.

I say this as a person who was charmed and amused and moved by it.

And as someone who's career has been as an advertising writer and creative director since age 19. Several years of which were spent doing movie campaigns (from Jaws through Risky Business and a few more after that).

Believe me, you know what you're doing making trailers.
I assume this film is designed for release in American " art theaters" in N.Y., L.A., etc. I think it will open very well if you get this trailer out there. And, I'm guessing the picture is as good as the trailer itself.

I wish you great success.

I have to admit, Dan, as somebody who makes trailers for a living, I logged on to the link hoping to identify problems and to offer solutions.

But I like the trailer. I like it a lot. I would see this movie. And I would hope it will be in theaters in LA around thanksgiving time, so I can take my mother.

Watching it, it was hard to tell if it was a documentary or a scripted film, but either way, it made me want to see it.

My only thought is that most of the people in America who are old enough to have seen Yiddish theater at its height live in South Florida and that should be added to your release schedule.

If you want help getting it viewed on other viral sites, contact my friend Tom Leonard (not a landsman, but a mench nonetheless). Here is a contact link.
