What do you think about The seven R’s of successful blogging?
I just put up a post on my marketing blog about successful blogging. I listed 7 r's: Read, report, rewrite, reach out, rely, react and relate.
What do you think about it?
Have I missed one? Are there too many?
Let me know please

Hi Michel,
Always 'Respond' rather than 'React', many bloggers 'React' and spark flame wars that lay swathes of reputations to waste.
As a PR guy I believe blogging is a form of story telling and all good stories need six points - Who, What, Where, When, How and Why - so there are six 'W's to be had too!
Nice looking blog by the way - clean looking, which so few are!

Can’t think on many “R” words right now, but what about “Resist”?
IMO, the most important success factor of a Blog is to keep writing no matter what. I believe that consistency and regular updates are the most challenging blogger tasks and a huge motivation is needed.

I like Nik's three I's, and in that same order. You'd be hard pressed to top that list.

Research - I think too many blogs are just Repurposing without digging a little deeper. Also - Relevance?

Speaking as a blogger and blog reader (and also as a somewhat contrary person), I hate it when bloggers shoehorn information into number or letter lists. I'm much less likely to read posts like this--partly, I think, because it's such a common way of structuring those filler posts that people whip up to spread their link around the web, or to furnish thos faux blogs that are basically ad farms.
For me, it's just two things:
#1 Care about your audience. Know them. When they comment, listen and connect. We're creating communities, not (hopefully) giving speeches or writing in publicized personal journals.
#2 Have a predictable structure and stay on topic as much as possible. People tend to stop by repeatedly when they know what they're getting.

Hi Michel,
I doubt if any dof the really successful bloggers out there even considered seven R's.
I think what distinguishes all of them is that they have some real passion for their subject, something interesting to say, and they keep the blog fresh.
Josh.
