How has Google Local changed the F-Pattern eye tracking studies popularly known as the Google Golden Triangle?
Has the advent of the Googl local ten pack results, or universal search changed the way searchers perceive the difference between blended search, organic results, and pay per click on the web? The eye tracking studies done by Enquiro Research are often referred to in the search marketing industry, but I was wondering if anyone has more information on how the eye tracking patterns may have changed.

This is a fantastic question, and I can only answer with generalizations about the results I'm seeing in my clients' testing. My bet would be that the answer to your question would vary based on whether the search terms typed were general (i.e. plumber) or local in nature (i.e. plumber 45069, plumber in west chester). If the search had a local modifier attached, I'd say that what has begun happening now that Google users have had some time to be "trained" to look for the local results at the top left of the natural results is that many stop their search there. In fact, thinking about that further, I'm sure of it. After all, that type of relevancy was exactly why Google implemented that strategy, so if it wasn't working, I'm sure they would have shifted strategy by now.

I can't speak to that, but there are is a product available, that identifies the "hot spot" on your pages for interest. This could be very pertinent to the point you are looking at.
