What % of people are using Lotus Notes? Does anyone have any recent data that breaks down email client usage?
I am searching for a report/study that breaks down email client usage. (ie: Lotus X%, Outlook X%, Thunderbird, etc.) I have seen a report from 2003 but need something more current. Can anyone help?

Clarification: This question is really meant as an email design question. Outlook and Lotus have the strangest rendering/display issues so I want to know the specific percentage of users using them.

Hello Brandon
Let me present you the list of popular e-mail client's available
Outlook, Outlook Express, The Bat, Mozilla Thunderbird, Lotus Notes, Windows Live Mail Desktop, Eudora, Opera, Mulberry, Pegasus Mail, Incredimail, Foxmail, Alpine, Sylpheed, Intermail Post Office,Email Smith and the list goes on.
Outlook, Outlook Express, Live Mail Desktop are the proprietary products of Microsoft obviously they would be the most popular. As known Microsoft's products are pig at resources and you need to buy third party tools for backup etc.
Thunderbird is a product from Mozilla has begun to seriously challenge Outlook in the free email client arena. It's good at filtering, taking care of junk e-mails, Rss feed reader, customization could be done so lot of pros.
The Bat isn't that popular, undoubtedly I could say this is the best.Very fast and well suited to being left running in the background without excessive cpu usage. It could support multiple accounts without hassles, Best filtering and sorting rules so lot of pros. You need to get used to The Bat to get best out of it.
Lotus Notes I could say it's having less number of users when compared to the past.
If you need more information please don't hesitate to contact me.
Cheers

Unfortunately, the US Government still uses Lotus Notes. I complained when I got there because I had used Notes 2.0 eons ago. But the IT team assured this was Notes 6.5. After 18 months, I can now tell you the difference between Notes 2.0 and 6.5. 6.5 is in color.
But, Samsung's new Instinct will link to Lotus Notes for the small percentage of the population who use it.

Hi,
I suppose your question relates to email rendering issues, so don't forget to test your e-mail in popular webmails, like Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo and in the webmails of the most dominant ISP's.
And to make it even worse: test the webmails in Internet Explorer and in Mozilla Firefox. I've had some issues in the past.
If you're in B2B: you'd like to to test in the webmail of Outlook and on the most popular PDA's.
Hi Brandon,
Designing emails for Lotus Notes (and other exotic email readers) is indeed an issue we're all facing in the emarketing industry.
According to IBM, there are 95 million Lotus Notes users out there!
