Anyone has a benchmark on CPM ads in Europe?
Hello,
I'm looking for a benchmark on CPM in Europe...
I know that buying CPM advertising is very high in Switzerland, Germany and UK but I'm wondering about other countries also...
Any idea to help?
Thank you,

Hello,
After several feedbacks, including some outside Linkedin:
- no-one has a crystal-clear benchmark of CPM accross Europe!
- CPM is indeed very high in Germany and Switzerland
- Because of lack of web sites and good blogs in Spain and Italy, CPM is rising there, thus making it a bit cheaper to buy in France
Still looking for a real benchmark...
Please, don't try to sell our agency or media-planning company, just try to be part aof the conversation and share... Thank you!

Hi, I advertise in Italy. The CPM really depends on the websites you are planning on. Just to give you a rough idea, I pay on average between €1,3 and €1,8 but the range is very wide (let's say from a minimum of €0,5 to over €15).
Ciao!

Just one more example. A CPM campaign on YouTube.it costs about €2,5-€3.
Hi Nicolas,
I'm afraid that a benchmark number won't be very representative for you. CPMs vary massively depending on geographic location, size of media spend, the ad formats you wish to use, the popularity & page impression levels of the website publishers you decide to use, the verticals those websites are in, the audience segment you want to target on sites....
From my own experience, I've seen CPM levels of sub-€1 for run-of-network, untargeted ads on huge websites generating millions of page impressions a day, and I've seen €70+ CPMs for the top niche sites in particular verticals.
In a previous role, I was seeing average CPMs (taking all the above factors into account) of about €7.50 to €12.50.
I work with a global media metrics company called MediaHound. For B2B print advertising, our analysis shows an average European CPM is $295 vs US at $150. For B2B online advertising, average European CPM is $174 vs US at $128 CPM. Hope that helps.
