Can you recommend a database email marketing service provider?

Can you recommend a database marketing email platform ASP -- not intra-company emails, rather the database marketing sort.

Who have you used? What's been your experience with them? How many emails do you send a month? How much do you spend? Whom would you recommend?

Thank you,

Thanks for everyone who responded in such a short time....amazing!!!

Let me clarify: We are looking for an application service provider (ASP) and not a software or software/hardware solution to maintain in-house.

Also, if you are the vendor, please include some referenceable client names and contact information.

Thank you.

Kam,

I'd highly recommend ExactTarget. I was a Product Manager at ExactTarget and am a client currently. It's an excellent product. We had clients when I worked there that put out millions of emails weekly. Prices can vary quite a bit based on your volume.

If you give them a call, be sure to let them know I sent them your way!

Hi,

As you are US based I would suggest http://www.mailermailer.com/. Its important that you use a provider that handles bounces and unsubscribes automatically. I used to use MailerMailer but as I am based in the UK we now use www.emailvision.com, they have relationships with the relevant ISPs for whitelisting.

There are many 3rd party ESPs (email service providers), and roughly split into two segments primarily by price/features. ExactTarget (mentioned above) represents the high price/high feature segment, whereas Constant Contact represents the lower price/not as many features. ExactTarget, Yesmail and others are well documented by the industry analysts, and used by many Enterprise-level businesses. For the SMB marketplace, Constant Contact and VerticalResponse fit very, very well. Recommendation: if you are just starting down this path, then take your first step with one of the ESPs focused on the SMB space (we use VerticalResponse). Theirs is a self-service model where you pay by the piece sent (often less than a penny each), and there's no long term commitment nor a setup fee. Should you need additional features, then look to the higher tier providers. Hope this helps.

php list will enable you to do this yourself easily. Any competent db tech should be able to install and configure it and then you can use it to import and manipulate any data.

I've had very good success with Constant Contact - simple to use, no complaints. Have heard good things about Exact Target, and also a service (out of Nashville I believe) called Emma.

Hi Kam,
Since no one's mentioned them yet, I'd like to suggest GotMarketing's Campaigner product. It is an ASP solution and I've been using it for about 4 years now. We send in the 10's of thousands per month but they support much heavier loads.

I added a link to my Squidoo lens below on "How to set up Campaigner".

Good luck!

Hi Kim: NCR Corporation has a great product: Customer Power. You can check them out here: http://www.ncrecommerce.com/.

We use our own products, naturally, but I would recommend it even if i didn't work there. Internally, our business unit send out about 8 emails a month, but plan to increase that greatly over the next year.

Customer Power can help you segment, transmit, maintain lists and track performance.

You might find this interesting as well: http://www.emailyogi.com/

Good luck!
