Do you think that partecipating to the conversation of the Social Web could help the business of not Internet based small companies too? Got some real life examples?

I've just read the Book of Larry Weber "Marketing to the Social Web": very impressive...
I'd like to see examples of how taking part of the Web2.0 conversation (Forum, Blogging, Social Network, etc.) could help to improve the business (in terms of better marketing) of small business that are not web related, like plumber, installer, consultants, lawyers, etc.
Tipically I notices community forums working pretty well, some other business cases?

Absolutely, the searching questions and replies can further everyones limits of understanding and there capabilities and competencies. Sharing is the key.

The web is primarily a sales channel independent of the services and products that are on offer and with further investment can also be order management and supply chain management systems for running your business.
