Email marketing is great for getting out quick messages that call out for immediate action from clients you have already, but they don't seem to be as effective in converting prospects to customers. Although email is cheap to develop and distribute, sometimes it pays to have a physical product put into your prospects hands.

The link below tells about a highly creative direct mail piece that got a better than 10% response rate, and brought in enough business to more than pay for the promotion within 48 hours of being mailed. The information at the link doesn't give a lot of detail, but feel free to contact me if you have more questions. jamie@sophwell.com

Hi Florent:

We publish an Advertising Annual that includes the 100 best email ads and newsletters of the year. In my view the work from Apple and Nike stand above the crowd. But that's from a design POV. In terms of response rates, I'm told that the PETCO, Dell and SmartBargains.com emails perform well, generally.

Cordially, Steve

I didn't think about it until I saw your question, but I don't think I've actually ever seen a good one.
I get the usual stuff from airlines and stores, which look like they could have been scanned from a newspaper ad, and the all-singing and dancing video mails from telecoms and IT companies which snarl up my inbox so get deleted straight away.
I tend to delete all unsolicited mail before opening anyway. Spam has killed a great, unused opportunity for creativity....
