We have 890,000 Facebook Fans with 50,000 to 100,000 daily interactions (Likes + Comments + Shares) and we only started nine months ago. To put things in perspective, President Obama has 25,000,000 Facebook Fans but only has around 20,000 daily interactions. Good thing we aren't running for President since are Fans are two to five times more engaged on a typical day :)

Bottom line it's all about FAN ENGAGEMENT to grow your site. For example we had one Wall Post on Friday that had 50,000 interactions including 13,000 Shares. Since the average share goes to 120 friends, this one post went viral to an additional 1.5 million Facebook users.

I agree with William, it's all about interaction and engagement. I am a fan of Lancome on facebook and frequently interact with their specialist & other fans about latest products and campaign. It helps me get deeper knowledge of their knowledge, and shorten the distance between me and the brand.

Hi Julie:

Here's a tip we use with our clients.

Run Facebook ads at test intervals.

For example, if you're trying to reach families, experiment with running ads over the weekend versus during the week. Stop, evaluate, change up if you want to test the ad, and start again.

You can change out demographics, too.

Barbara

P.S. Facebook's ad newsletter is a great resource. But, you probably know that.

Here's what NOT to do:

Use facebook ads to sell products or services.

Here's what you SHOULD do:

Use facebook ads to grow your fan page, subscribe to a free newsletter, sign up for a free bonus, or take a survey.

You have to have a stronger backend sales process to eventually generate revenue.

Grew some fans on facebook? Now get them to check out your website.

Got people to sign-up to your newsletter, now tell them about your amazing service or product.

Etc.
