I am sure you already know it, but shouldn`t ITIL and COBIT be enough?

Hi,

I am not sure what you are asking: for companies in UK? Do you expect 'best practices' to be different per country?

My suggestion would be to contact your local itSMF and see if they can help. If not, hire a consultant to help you out.

Regards,

Michiel

Hi
I'd agree with the others that surveys don't show any great difference between UK and other places though of course cultural sensitivity is part of good CM.

I'd start with reading Kotter's 'Leading Change' and 'What Great Leaders Really Do'. It's the book our delegates on change management coures find most useful.

Harvard Business Review and McKinsey Quarterly regularly survey in this area. Their surveys are available online to subscribers and some stuff is available without subscribing on their websites.

CIPD website also has some reasonable stuff but you may need to be a member.

I know my answer is not what you are looking for, but off the top of my head: 'Communicate about change to your employees only as much as it is worth communicating'... shooting this off as this is what I've incidentally been thinking about in the last few days...

In the UK, it is really a 'discuss & discuss & discuss before you decide but keep communicating about the bush' culture, so you can derive at least 1 or 2 best practices from it...

(Business/Organisation) change management is a fascinating subject.

Last year I had the opportunity to take part in a seminar by Rowland Fisher Lexon Consulting RFLC Applied on their approach to change management. Co-founder Angus Fisher did a great job.

Compared to other organisations I understand RFLC does their own research on change management as well. I have also been working together with Meta Positive's change expert Terry Foster, who has
a lot of experience working with organisations on business change.

In general, Peter Senge's "The Fifth Discipline" offers a lot of good pointers as well. The OGC's MSP (Managing Successful Programmes) has also a more programmatic approach to managing business change.
