High quality, reasonable cost manufacturer needed for high end baby carriers

A friend of mine helps run a very successful, high end baby carrier manufacturer start-up in Orange County CA. Their products are cloth baby slings/backpacks that retail for hundreds of dollars. High quality materials and flawless workmanship are mandatory. Their volume has increased so much that they are looking for an offshore partner, but having terrible luck -- poor responsiveness, slow delivery, poor quality. Does anyone have personal experience with a manufacturer they can recommend? Desired quantity would start at 5,000 units per month, growing from there. They want to start with a 1,000 unit test. Initially fabric and materials would be drop-shipped to maintain quality, afterwards a local supplier of comparable quality would be desirable. Any leads? Thanks in advance!

I advise clients seeking to source materials, components & products to supplier partners in LCC's.

By chance, I was working for another client in a completely different industry, and a major LCC manufacturer of baby products (furniture, carriers, strollers, etc.) popped up into the screening process because of their skill in certain fabrication methods.

However, particularly for infant products, sourcing is not the only area of concern. You must also develop the right supply chain management and quality assurance methods right into your supply chain. And, most critically, you must understand that the responsibility for managing quality will always vest with the buyer and owner of the brand.

I'd be happy to help your friend. I have extensive experience sourcing both simple consumer products and very demanding safety-conscious products.
