Glocalisation (or glocalization) is a portmanteau word of globalization and localization. By definition, the term “glocal” refers to the individual, group, division, unit, organisation, and community which is willing and able to “think globally and act locally.”

The term glocalization originated from within Japanese business practices. It comes from the Japanese word dochakuka, which simply means global localization. Originally referring to a way of adapting farming techniques to local conditions, dochakuka evolved into a marketing strategy when Japanese businessmen adopted it in the 1980s.[2] It was also used in the Global Change Exhibition (opened May 30, 1990) in the German Chancellery in Bonn by Manfred Lange, the director of the touring exhibit development team at that time.
The term was popularized in the English-speaking world by the British sociologist Roland Robertson in the 1990s, the Canadian sociologists Keith Hampton and Barry Wellman in the late 1990s,[3] and Zygmunt Bauman. Hampton and Wellman have frequently used the term to refer to people who are actively involved in both local and wider-ranging activities of friendship, kinship and commerce. [4] Thomas L. Friedman in The World is Flat talks about how the Internet encourages glocalisation, such as encouraging people to make websites in their native languages. '"Glocal" also pops up as a plot motivator in the 2010 film Up in the Air when the career-ending counselors switch from in-person to videoconferencing terminations.

dear Yogesh,

Glocal is a contraction of the words <local> and <global> so it has to do with people or events on the one level influencing people or events on the other level.
E.g., people in the Netherlands buying meat in their local supermarket have an global impact on Brazilian deforestation. That's because the cattle which provides the meat is fed with soy planted in deforestated areas.

“Glocal” is not an English word, is a “made-up” word to symbolize the concepts of globalization and localization.
Uniting the two ideas, you transmit the thought of “Think Globally, Act locally". This means if each person, localized in the correspondent community, act towards a sustainable environment, all will contribute to the health of the entire planet (globalization).

In times of high globalization and of absolute necessity of relaunching the localization, an exam of the
scenario with which enterprises, entrepreneurs and management, products must compare, will help us to
understand the current situation, to identify the right way for a valid, current and aimed strategy of glocal marketing and to answer globalization and localization appropriately, not already separate and in contrast, but
strategically integrated in the glocalization. The scenario will show the right and structured way in order the enterprises can take the chances offered by the glocalization.

Think as a Global Giant, Aim high, Efficiencys of scale

Act Locally, get to the market, customize to local requirements

Result : A global multinational that has 80% of revenues coming in from non base headquarters, and has built a strong brand connect that is not diluted even while giving exactly what the consumers want in each market.

Am not sure if the world has gone glocal, but if you mean that we can work from any part of the world, your right.

MK

The term has been used to show the human capacity to bridge scales (local and global) and to help overcome meso-scale, bounded, “little-box” thinking.

‘Glocals’ is a term often used to describe a new social class: expat managers who travel often and switch homes often, and are therefore both global and local.
