Whatt's wrong with this tool?
REF: http://www.elluminate.com/
Using a tool like this, you can do everything except sniff me or touch me. I don't believe these two things are required to 'build trust.' I could be wrong about this.
Can we not use such a tool to overcome the aversion of US companies to working with remote US professionals, even as we send entire projects to Asia?
Please comment.

Many of my clients have never met or spoken to me, much less sniffed or touched me (thank goodness!). :) Corporations may have to use technical tools to build trust, but individual writers and editors - and recruiters - can do so by fulfilling assignments skillfully, accurately and professionally; being pleasant, responsive and reliable; and making effective use of e-mail, the Web and the phone.

It ought to be but some employers take the view that if you are not in the room sitting in a chair where they can see you, you're not doing the job. This is of course ridiculous but many employers seem to be devotees of Bishop Berkeley; if I can't actually see the person sitting at a chair working, how do I know that they exist?
The prospects for regular remote working are, well, not to put too fine a point on it, remote.
However, on a serious note, if you start working in-house first there is always a better prospect of working remotely at a later date. Employers come to know how you work and they become more confident about leaving you to work off-premise.
It is also the case that the corporate world is much more suspicous of this sort of working than other fields, say, for example, journalism..

We are slowly not in a national market anymore but in a global market. Global conferences are attended by CEO and Professionals wanted to learn how to better manage their firms. What is best is having a person whom you can build a working relationship with. Their location is low on the priority list if they have the expertise to help your firm or project.
