As one being in the HR Community, one who has owned his own HR Consulting company, and one who's Indian, I feel I have a few pointers for you. Plus, you're timing is impeccable as I just joined this site/group.
1. Know the cultural differences. The way business is conducted may vary from Europe to India to Taiwan, etc. Even though a lot of companies abroad try to cater and emulate to Western business practices, you have to understand the cultural barriers. Avoid ethnocentricism. That's a sure way to lose a client.
2. Know the labor laws and the accepted practices. Partner with a reputable law firm. Chances are, if you're a new company, you won't be able to be on the top list of the mega-firms, so you have to do some digging for an individual. The best part is that you're already on LinkedIn and I'm sure with some homework, you'll find people that can help. Best advice I can give you is NETWORK and PARTNER UP with those that can help fill your deficiencies.
3. Know your client/prospect. If you have multi-national clients (by site location, not necessarily a Fortune company), they will have a ton of needs per site.
OK, that's a few pointers. I have a TON more to cover, but my break time is up. Still a ton of work to do, but message me how I can help. I feel your pain. And don't worry about not knowing all the answers or whether or not you'll feel prepared to take on that BIGGER client. Sorry to be so vague, but it is a vague question after all. Good luck and cheers!
