Does anyone else think Fanny May and Freddie Mac sound more like cartoon characters than finance companies?

I also think so. Unfortunately, these characters are not funny, not at all.
"Heck of a job, Freddie and Fanny", is all I can say.
Yep, two characters from South Park that come and "invest" all your money

'Fannie Mae' and 'Freddie Mac' were actually originally aliases for the Federal National Mortgage Association (FNMA or 'Fannie Mae') and the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation ("FHLMC" or 'Freddie Mac', though a bit more of a stretch). Seems the names just stuck.

Hi Stephen,
You might argue that some of their executives have acted like clowns - Congress gave them a license to print money and look how badly they have managed their fiduciary resonsibilities in recent years.
