How do I find a travel agent for a hotel in Slovenia?
I have a Slovene friend who has just started a family run hotel in a beautiful area in Slovenia. He has asked me to help him find a UK travel agent, or similar, who will help him promote and send guests to his hotel. I've no idea where to start as this is very different from the industry I work in. Any help would be appreciated. Their website is: http://www.turizem-sostar.si/
Location specific: United Kingdom

Hello,
Your friend will need to take 3 approaches in order to correctly distribute his hotel property in teh travel industry.
1) first contact some of the non profit Hotel distribution organizations like HEDNA.org. They have one purpose, to help hotels get distributed.
2) Contact Amadeus Slovenia. http://www.amadeus.si/ Since most of the travelers will likly be European Amadeus conducts somthing like 85% of all travel in Europe. Get the property listed in Amadeus and then you can pay extra to have that information sent to the other GDS's. Thereby covering all travel agents in the world.
3) For market specific content go to the market leaders in specific markets. Like hotel.de in Germany. They also have deals that will allow the property to up loaded to other sources.
I hope this helps your friend.

The large travel agencies have a list of hotels that offer around the world. If you contact your local Carlson Wagonlit office - the second largest travel agent in the world (American Express is number 1) they will give you direction on getting listed in their on-line agents catalogue. There is a fee involved and the hotel must certify to certain standards especially in the area of fire safety. All travel agencies work through one or another association groups for hotel bookings, they are computerized systems that make it easy and convenient to book and ensure their commissions.
