I think it will be very beneficial - I could even see offer wars - where hotels will offer foursquare offers to potential guests, and the hotel with the best offer -like 1 free dinner via room service or something will win the sale. It'd also be beneficial to offer something for the Mayors - so that people who are regular customers and avid foursquare users get some good benefits.

A good mayor reward could be a free upgrade on suite, or something to that nature.

I am not a hotel/motel but here is my 2 cents if you care to know:

With the advancement of phones (iPhone or Android) and peopeusing them more and more as a full service device, I would estimate sites like four square will begin to see a rise in use. They encourage social scene and frequent customers.
If it doesn't cost or has low cost, I would look at it as an option. If there is cost, I would negotiate a "founders" rate for helping further launch and possibly some return if there are no hits.

Good luck

I think it's an excellent complement to Yelp.

Yes; one of the big players in this space is the Roger Smith Hotel in New York. Their venue link on Foursquare is below.

I've also included a HotelChatter blog post with a list of participating hotels.

Don't forget Foursquare's direct competitor, Austin TX-based Gowalla. Aloft Hotels are on Gowalla.

I've just registered the Bonnington on foursquare. Still getting things fine-tuned.
I think services like foursquare will be huge in the not too distant future. Our main problem here is that, unlike in the US, support for location based services from the telecom/mobile operators, is fairly weak.

We have several hotels playing around with Foursquare. One of the larger ones is the Hilton Las Vegas.

Hotel Chatter started a list with hotel offers via Foursquare, but it is hardly exhaustive. I think the real list is growing faster than they can keep up with.
