Nathan,

I highly recommend that you connect with Max Betancourt of BAI (Architects and Engineers) max@betancourt.com and Cristina A. Betancourt Quiroz of Klinai (Alter Mobili - Design and Production) cabq@bai.com.mx. BAI and Klinai are affiliated and both have a lot of experience in the construction and design of high-end hotels and resorts throughout Mexico and abroad. While Max and Cristina are not US ex-pats, they both speak English fluently and have worked with many US and Candian developers and flags including Intrawest, Kor Group, The Tides, etc. They are currently assisting us with a project in the Zihuatanejo region on the Pacific Coast.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or want additional details. I've worked with BAI for three years and find them to be very professional.

Hello Nathan,

Why don't you try this site www.lonelyplanet.com (URL provided as a link), as well as check out their 'Thorntree' forum where fellow travellers or entrepreneurs write in to share their experiences and give their recommendations for hotels/restaurants/sight seeing/transport, etc., with dos and donts, at destinations through out the world ?

You could even ask your question(s) and share your experiences there in the Thorntree forum, and get better and more appropriate responses, share resources or business ventures, since that is an ideal and dedicated place for international travellers, whether on a tight budget or not.

I am not a part of / connected with the Lonely Planet group in any ways and I am just offering suggestions, which could be of some benefit to you by increasing your options through the more sharing of information.

Randall Huggins is your man (rhuggins@rdhassociates.net). He doesn't live in Mexico. He is in Dallas. But he has extensive experience with redevelopment design work at 5-star luxury resorts in the Turks & Caicos, St. Lucia, Biloxi, Las Vegas, among others. The link below takes you to his website.
