Does anyone know of a full truck load carrier that is having trouble finding customers for a daily trip Monday to Friday from Indianapolis to Toronto. In other words, I am looking for a low cost solution on this shipping lane.

Peter, I used to sell to Celadon Trucking in Indy and saw their trucks on my way to Buffalo, so you might contact them. I don't know for a fact if they can help you but it's a suggestion. If it works out, please let me know.

What about the companies who "bid" on your job? Seperate trucking portals in which they all compete for the job?

There are dozens of sites like this that are free. I used to work for a start-up that did this..........

Peter,
Check out palletrater.com as a potential resource. While they do a lot in LTL, they also can handle Line Haul and Truckload. Part of what they offer is on-line account management with full web-visibility throughout the shipment process.

You may look into Ceva Logistics. They are one of the carriers that I had the most success with.

I work for Fedex Freight systems. They will quote you based upon your needs. Don't know if it is the cheapest solution, but they can get you there.

I would focus primarily on Canadian based carriers that are small to mid size to find most aggressive pricing. Carriers such as EMCEA (Springfield), Aftim Transport (Windsor), Pegasus (Windsor), R.N. Kargus (Guelph), Morrice Transportatin (Windsor).

Peter,

Bison Transport is a Canada Based Truckload Carrier. In my past life we signed Bison up for loads out of Canada to the Indy market. Great southbound rate. We would also use them nothbound with core returns to the Canada based manufacturers. Bison had better rates nothbound than the US based carriers.

Bison was a carrier of the year for Transplace two years ago. I would contact them. 800.GO.BISON
