The overviews vary greatly, depending upon specific technologies; e.g., run-of-the-mill silicon vs. GaAs vs. SOI, etc. In addition, specific needs may dictate any one of a number of very distinct processes for wire bonding, die-attach, and, in particular, packaging (encapsulation vs. hermetic sealing), etc. I can recommend texts on the subject, but if you provide more information regarding your specific application requirements, I would be happy to provide such an overview.
