Help Judge a Book on Privacy Compliance by its Cover?

It is said that choosing a book title can take the author as long as it takes to write the book. I need your help because I don’t have a year!

My book on Do-it-Yourself Small Enterprise Privacy Compliance is in final editing and I need to finalize the title because it goes to press in August.

I would be very appreciative if you would take a short survey I created to help choose an appropriate title – one that may allow you to judge the book by the cover.

The survey can be found at:

Feel free to post your selections (Title: Subtitle -- Short Description) here as a Linkedin Answer.

Thank you very much, I appreciate your help and the time it takes you to complete the survey.

Joe, I answered your survey. I feel that the titles and subtitles you propose lack a little something. You really have three aspects to the book, it seems:

- best practices for customer privacy
- reducing liability if identity theft occurs
- building consumer confidence

What is the majority of the book about? By your explanation of "safe harbor" it seems it might be mostly about protecting yourself in the event of identity theft, and so I'm guessing that a lot of the book is geared to companies who would need to prevent it from happening, or do damage control if it does.

I have a friend in this same type of business, and you might want to check out his site and see the approach he takes at promoting this type of content.

I think you may have something around "creating a safe harbor: simple steps to protect your company and customers from identity theft" or something along those lines, if that's what the book is about, but the title needs to "sing!" I will give it some more thought and if I come up with anything more helpful, I'll email you. Good luck with your endeavor!!
