Log into the account you wish to close>>> Click on 'Account & Settings' found at the top of the home page>>> Click on 'Close Your Account' under Personal Information>>> Select a reason for closing your account>>> Click on 'Continue'.

To echo the previous post, you have done the error as the instructions are clear about what happens - so close your account and your outstanding invitations will be withdrawn but there is no outrage just a genuine mistake on your part.
You can also close and hide this question once you've done it.
