i would goto http://hotjobs.yahoo.com/jobs-search-advanced and check the box "search job titles only" and use Director Retail Operations as the keywords. don't limit the search to just one region. you should see lots of examples of those types of jobs and then you can pick-out applicable sentences / paragraphs for your own job description.

Broaden your search parameters:
retail = sell = exchange, change of interchange of goods
operations = run business
Type "Job Description"+"Retail Operations" Director
in your searchbox and the results will pop up.
Susan, sometimes you can try "Googling" it to see if a job description comes up, the other option is Monster usually has some great examples to pull from.

Hello Peter,
I think your question would go wasted here under this sub-category of "Customer Service", and you would be better off asking such 'HR / recruitment - related' questions under the sub-categories of "Staffing and Recruiting" and "Personnel Policies", in order for you to get a better response rate.
This 'Customer Service' area does not denote the customer service of Linkedin.com, but instead the field/business/industry/profession/industry/occupation of customer service or customer satisfaction.
Have a nice day !
Thanks & regards,
Ajay Merchant.
