Give a thought to the Internet based offerings. My personal favourite is NetSuite but I am biased. I have worked with a number of CRM packages over the years and I find NS to be the most flexible of them.
It is very functionally rich, has fantastic customisation tools and easily integrates into existing back office systems.
It can be bought as a CRM tool but also offers a full ERP Suite.
Happy hunting.

Hi Kent,

please don't make the same mistake that so many businesses are making when evaluating CRMs, which is, that they select the CRM package before they have documented and outlined their business processes. It just won't work this way.

Other than that I concur with Ross, yet with the addition, that I would strongly suggest an inhouse environment to your company because of associated security issues, privacy issues, etc.

If you need further help please do not hesitate to call me.

Kent,

As noted, you need to ensure that you have defined all of your application requirements. You should then ask the question about possible vendor compatibility.

That said, you should take a look at adenin Intranet Software they will provide about 85% of your needs. Again, they can cover a small / midsize contact center.

Best of luck,

John

Kent,
Your question is kind of loaded. Are you looking to just get a feel for what people are using? Or a short list? Has CMI done any work on building an understanding of what you need?

Having had a quick look at the CMI website, I'm assuming your target audience is more consumer oriented (i.e. pitching to business owners, senior execs). If that is in fact the case, i'd suggest you change your focus from wanting CRM to CEM (Customer Experience Management). CEM solutions like RightNow (www.rightnow.com - I have an affiliation with this company) are pioneers in the experience management space and have very deep functionality when it comes to areas like chat, call centre, and KM.

Hi Kent,

I guess you have already assessed the majors of this industry. One thing, do not underestimate the cost of maintenance, as well as the recommanded best practices for email marketing, when selecting such a tool. The easiest could be the most expensive one (budget but also and not least reputation and brand confidence...)

A call center solution may require privacy options particularly if you aim to use an outsourced service for your call center. I've spent the last 13 months managing the L'Oréal global marketing project (based on Siebel technology and not necessarily that costy :-) ) with Call Centers, Email Marketing and Loyalty programs.

But as said by my previous online fellows, an online solution could be Your solution. It depends on your operations requirements, such as flexibilty of deployment, rapidness and ease of use if you plan to use run partner to execute your marketing programs.

Happy to talk about it.. Large subject !

Kindest regards

Cyril

Typo3 - a customized version. The CMS It's free but the customization depends on the detail level needed. BIAS, the company I'm running managed to pull from a Typo3 simple CMS the following:

- CMS;
- ERP;
- CRM;
- Presentation website;
- ADM - it's how I like to call an Advanced Document Management System;

We can help you with this talk if you are talking seriously about it. The development takes about a month.
